You could add: She's a hell of a lot smarter than they are. If there is anything the patriarchy hates, it is a smart, liberal, woman of color. And she is very effective in quietly organizing other smart, liberal women of color. The Sisterhood is strong, and the fascists are terrified of them.

You hit the nail on the head. Right & left are calling for President Biden to replace Vice President Kamala Harris with someone else ppl would be more “comfortable” with, e.g., not a Black woman. Ezra Klein & Ross Douthat in The NY Times have been beating this dead horse as well as Ms Parker.

Pray tell what did Vice President Pence accomplish besides not overturning the election results-one terrifying day of work certainly-but 1 day of work compared to Madame Vice President’s achievements? She has also presided over the most tie-breakers in the Senate than any Vice President EVER. Vice President Quayle-did what again?

Let’s face it, systemic racism is rearing its ugly head yet again in America.

For years, I’ve been flummoxed by why Harris’s solid work as VP has been sidelined in the press or even by Biden operatives. Why hasn’t there been more about what it means to kids (not to mention adults) to see a Black woman at the White House? It’s a big deal, and she is smart - anyone who watched her prosecutorial roasting of hapless conservatives at hearings in the Senate would know that and, yes, be worried if they’re on the other side of the political divide. At this point, it’s clear that conservatives are smearing her, and I hope she doesn’t step down - I’d far rather see Joe Biden step down (and that’s a non-starter now, too).

You have summed it up. I remember the attacks on Hillary Clinton for being too serious and NOT smiling or laughing ENOUGH. Here we go again -- a highly qualified, effective woman in power is just too much. #BidenHarris2024. Let's go!

Kathleen Parker's opinion piece dropped the day after Kamala Harris visited an abortion clinic. She is just flying her anti-choice flag.

Thanks especially for the background on Kathleen Parker. She didn't blip my radar till that ridiculous "VP Harris Should Step Aside" column last week. One of my first thoughts (after the expected "WTF??") was that Parker didn't wish the Democratic Party well. People of color, especially Black women, are crucial to GOTV efforts and the Democratic grassroots in general. I can't imagine a better way to outrage them than for Kamala to step (i.e., be pushed) aside.

VP Harris is subject to triple standards. That said, it would be preferable to acknowledge where she is weak going forward. After spending 3 years on a variety of forgettable issues, abortion seems to be a fit . Even then, she needs some constructive criticism on delivery--there is nothing disloyal about that. Biden cannot change how he looks, talks or walks. Biden can compare his White House logs with Trumps, comparing and contrasting how the older Biden has outworked Trump during his tenure. Both are burdened by lack of consistent messaging--there is nothing close to a MAGA logo. the D's message cannot even fit into one of these comment boxes.

Let's not forget Kathleen Parker's lunatic column about how Kavanaugh must have had a doppleganger.

The woman has been looney tunes for years.

When people tell you the WaPo is a liberal bastion, remember Parker, Thiessen, Hugh Hewitt, Ed Rogers and any other RWNJ they give space to.

Excellent piece. The Republication are only good at one thing: SLIMING. It's a perfect description of how they attack everyone who doesn't toe the far right line.

Well you got to admit she sounds like she’s stoned on weed an awful lot.

I kind of got roasted when I posted this else where. I agree that there were cheap shots. But then there is this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDLANlZEicg She was not the progressive prosecutor that she claimed to be. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/01/17/opinion/kamala-harris-criminal-justice.html?fbclid=IwAR00mmwAShnDWZ048wHjP3AZskfsYpv79SDWsuSmTgTzEnYGzfnirnOiTZY&utm_source=pocket_saves
