Fully agreed. Our mainstream media is not meeting this moment with the gravitas it deserves. Still way too much toxic centrism. Both sides are not the same.

Great idea, well argued. I would add: the sooner, the better. This step needs to be taken boldly, NOW, because it will help set the course, put skin in the game and shape the narrative throughout the Hell Year ahead - and beyond. Break the damn ice! Jump in, the water is freezing cold but the way to warm it up is with many bodies paddling furiously together toward a singular goal. Words still matter, journalists. Churchill “weaponized the English language” not with lies but with truth elegantly written. Let’s Go!

I cannot agree more. People left Twitter but I still feel our voices get heard there when we yell together.

It's a terribly scary situation and people are not listening. Newspapers can easily get the word out fastest. Look at what the NYT did to Hillary in 2016. They crushed her with emails bullshit.

The televised media, CNN in particular, gave Donald Trump the royal road to the White House. Does anyone remember the night they kept their cameras trained on an empty dias and and empty podium for 45 minutes, waiting for Donald Trump to appear, while Bernie Sanders or maybe it was Hillary Clinton, was giving an important policy speech, or explaining their platform? No one heard jackshit from them that night? Wasn’t the estimate on absolutely free airtime the networks gave Trump in 2016 something like 20 Billion dollars?

The media failed us. They failed us all. They failed to fulfill their part of the contract with the nation. They failed to be a fearless free press. They couldn’t even summon the courage to express outrage and solidarity when Kashogi was dismembered by assassins sent by the sociopath “king” of one of the most revolting nations on the planet.

Excellent report! Letters to editors and reporters! Heat it up! Demand they tell the truth about Trump's plans.

There is significant right-wing bias in the US media & journalism, from ownership to management & into the anchors & reporters. This is getting worse, not better. Any pushback has been ignored. Half the media are openly right-wing sites actively trying to get Republicans elected & demonizing Biden. The others play "both sides", which gives lies the same airtime as facts & reality. One need only look at "stolen election" coverage over the last 3 yrs to see how a right-wing BS narrative was aired endlessly in our US media. Not sure the ultimate solution, cause talking about it is NOT working.

Fully agree but how do we put pressure on the media to do this?

Good analogy to hurricanes or tornadoes. Not just newspapers but TV stations should flash warnings every time Trump makes a comment like "it depends" when asked if there will be violence if he loses the election.

The mainstream media is saving "candidate" Trump millions by covering him in court, at the Sheriff's office, and arriving at football games—free publicity and stirring up his base. Trump manipulates much of the media. He turned himself into the Fulton Co. Sheriff during the evening news window. Guess who got free airtime. There must be a way to report the news without perpetuating an image of him as being unfairly treated-which is what many of his mob think. I agree that mainstream media should speak out, but more importantly, I feel the local media should be voicing opinions regarding the political erosion of traditional non-partisan offices. Local politicians are taking their cues from the likes of Trump. Some may even think well, he gets away with it so will I.
