Jeff Tiedrich has a challenge that's 2000+ days old…a Pultizer for the first reporter to say to Sweet Potato Hitler, ‘What in the fuck is wrong with you?’
Me too. I’m 85, I doubt I’ll live long enough to hear it, but it’s great to think about it. Of course with his health and dementia issues, I may live longer than he does.
This is why I do not watch or support any of the major news companies. I hear about these incidents from other sources, independent news, and, rarely, social media. I will not give their advertisers my time or my money. Corporate journalism has failed us.
When the president is insane and demented, the response when he becomes personally abusive to reporters should be the publication or network going to an explicit, in depth analysis of his symptoms. Bring in medical experts to discuss etiology, and constitutional experts to discuss the 25th Amendment. Just go factual, do straight reporting, instead of continuing to be nice about his diminished capabilities.
If I were a reporter for a day and could ask him a question, it would be "So, Mr. President, just how many children did you rape? Of course I know I would get thrown out, but it would have been worth it. I am waiting for one, at least ONE of them to ask an appropriate question to him. That may be just the thing to finally make his head explode!
I think we should just rid ourselves of trump. He is an embarrassment, he is dangerous and he has stressed out the country and the world for too long already. If he doesn't stroke out or otherwise die soon, we should remove him by impeachment. No person or country should ever have to put up with him.
Impeachment alone won't do it. Bill Clinton was impeached in 1998, and Trump has been impeached twice. They weren't removed from office, and Trump was re-elected after being impeached. Impeachment in the House has to be followed by conviction in the Senate. Keep in mind, too, that if Trump is convicted and removed from office, JD Vance becomes president. JD Vance has shown few signs of presidential qualifications, and he seems to be in the pocket of Silicon Valley billionaires, notably Peter Thiel. He's also a lot younger and healthier than Trump.
My fantasy scenario is that after the Dems take back Congress next year and the Speaker of the House after January 3, 2027, is a Democrat, both Trump and Vance could be impeached, convicted, and removed from office. Whereupon the Speaker becomes president. I'm not a fan of Hakeem Jeffries, but he's several country miles better than either Trump or Vance.
Being a WH correspondent is highly prestigious, so no one wants to run the risk of being reassigned. But has the WHCA said anything, Mark? Seems a no-brainer to issue a strongly-worded statement without reflecting on any individual reporter or outlet. Are they worried he won't come to their big dinner next year? You know the one he never attends anyway?
They're probably more worried about getting banned from the White House press pool and thus from access to the Oval Office. The Associated Press has been banned for refusing to go along with Trump's attempt to rename the Gulf of Mexico.
I recall when CBS White House correspondent Dan Rather "talked back" to President Nixon in the early 1970s. This could have been 1973 or even 1974 as Watergate was heating up.
Enlightening and the reasons for silent colleagues in the face of the abuse to their female counterparts is disappointing and disgusting!
What would Trump do if all the reporters just stood up silently and left the room or
pretended they were called to an urgent meeting
Off course Matt Gaetz would stay and what’s her name from Fox
But wouldn’t he be frustrated if everyone else just left when he acted like that.
I mean Leavitt “bugle-lates” his announcements and lies so nothing would be missed?
I vote for everyone pretending they are called to an urgent meeting..
I want them to DO something!
Excerpt:
“When Trump singles out reporters as “piggy,” “ugly,” and “stupid,” their colleagues’ silence resembles the “keep your head down” posture in a grade-school playground when the bully is on a reign of terror.”
In my 32 years in newspapers, I observed that most inside people, from department heads on up, tended to be promoted for their timid, don't-rock-the-boat demeanors (no offense to you, Mark). These are people who usually have not been in the trenches with reporters, never have your back and will hang you out to dry if anyone in upper management has issues with you. So you really think these people will defend reporters against Trump or move complaints of abused reporters up the chain to top executives?
You should read Jeff Tiedrich's. His standing offer is well over 2000 days. A Pulitzer Prize for any journalist who asks Trump what the eff is the matter with you?
If I were a reporter, and he called me ugly, I would say, “Why? Because I’m not 12 years old?”

I want to see it in my lifetime.

Thanks for bringing that up. I was thinking about it all the way through Mark's column.
I hope that not one, but many of them, do and that videos of such events will be available on-line as soon as they occur m.

I really hope so, I say that every day!
Sign me up.
Trump is a Bully. The networks are wimps. The people refusing to oppose Trump do everyone a disservice.
The only thinks Bully’s grasp is a strong opposition .
