This On-Target video by Steven Beschloss and me focuses on Tuesday’s Trump Cabinet meeting, which featured the president and top aides making outrageous comments and showing the deep abnormality of their regime. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Donald Trump tried to dodge responsibility for a war crime in the attack on a boat in the Caribbean. Trump seemed to fall asleep multiple times. When he wasn’t snoozing, he called U.S. citizens from Somalia “garbage” who didn’t belong in this country. He also said the Democrats’ push for affordability was a “fake narrative.”
Some media outlets took it in stride, or at least seemed less alarmed than Steven and me. But the Independent called it the “Cabinet meeting from Hell.”
