The American people would have a legal claim against The Apprentice producers if it weren’t for the statute of limitations.
After his NDA finally expired, Bill Pruitt, producer of the first two seasons, admitted that Trump “was not, by any stretch, a successful New York real estate tycoon like we made him out to be… We needed to legitimize Donald Trump as someone who all these young, capable people would be clamoring over one another trying to get a job working for.”
Pruitt readily admits the whole show was a con job that worked, because Trump recognized the show would “elevate his brand.”
"Sunlight is the best disinfectant" comes to mind while reading this excellent piece. Makes me think yet again about Trump being Patrick Bateman's idol in "American Psycho" (and wish I hadn't given my book away in our great moving purge). I still find it shocking that more people don't know the truth about our conman-in-chief — or don't believe it. Shine on, Mark.
I wonder what my dear friend and mentor Roddy Stinson, an awesome investigative journalist and columnist before he retired from the San Antonio Express-News, would have said if he read this column. We used to have long debates each time he said, "journalists are lazy for the most part not you but I look around this newsroom and I see a lot of lazy reporters."
Roddy: You were right and I've seen that a lot during the past decade and still playing on the national stage.
I suppose the media does very little fact checking. Donald Trump sure loves the limelight. He just craves to be noticed and cherished . His father must of been a real brute. Slapping little Donny down every chance he had. Not much love in his childhood so he started to love himself and only himself. As an adult he has to be front and center always. His words about everything are the only words. When you are always right debate is not necessary . If you should golf with Donald , just let him win. The media would never think of fact checking the Donald.
Help me understand how any news media that considers themselves legitimate still sits in the WH “press briefings” considering the lies are now
so blatant. The entire cadre should have walked out when the AP was suspended (if not prior with the other threats carried out). Journalists report that they want all of us to stand up—lead by example. If you choke the press briefing as a source of “information” (so laughable) maybe the standard will improve. No way the WH or the admin could stand it—they’d still bleat and the journalists could actually verify the information before claiming it’s breaking news. I am beyond frustrated by the excuses journalists and journalism has used to defend their presence. Maybe your “access” is what has contributed to the damage the fourth estate and our democracy. This is one of the first articles I’ve seen to at least glance in the mirror at the media’s role.
Years ago, as a teenager, I would read some of my mother's "Ladies" magazines, which often featured celebrity marriage and family profiles. A fair number of those marriages ended in divorce within a few years of the profiles, which led me to decide that the picture painted by the writer and the magazine had been rather shallow. As a result, I do not trust most interviews of famous people, especially politicians and businesspeople.
Is there any hope that the fawning "journalists" will wake up and start publishing real stories, start publishing the truth? Or are they afraid of being fired if trump goes after them? Are there many left in mainstream media like Yamiche Alcindor?

Trump: Born to lie.

They were all bedazzled by this genius of the con. Journalism at its lowest.
Exactly. Excellent piece.
How the ferocious anti-Trump MSM can be characterized as sucking up is an impressive feat of rhetorical jiu jitsu
