These other outlets are owned or soon will be owned by Trump supporting multi-billionaires, so don't expect them to raise any alarms. This is why I get all of my news from independent journalists

I got a grim reminder while knocking doors in a PA Congressional district how much the legacy media has normalized Trump. One good-natured man explained that he's a Republican and his son's a Dem, as if it's 1975 and Trump's atrocities haven't changed any opinions. One woman said she used to be a Democrat but that both parties are evil. She's bamboozled by the trans horror stories and is buying into the narrative that the Dems have been taken over by wild-eyed radicals. Nobody is pushing this narrative harder than the New York Times. If the Times or any other media outlet believes it has written all there is to write about Trump, they are seriously mistaken. In case you're wondering about that woman's reply when I reminded her of some of Trump's outrages, I got the familiar response: "I know, but..." Don't confuse her with facts. While it's an individual's responsibility to stay informed, the media's numbness to Trump isn't helping at all.

Trump's been lying since before 2016. That's ten-plus years for the media to figure this out: how to call a lie a lie, how to fact-check in real time, how to hold the line when the White House pushes back, and how to do it together — because a journalist association likely has more staying power than any one reporter standing alone. When Trump spouts craziness, which is every time he opens his mouth, the corporate media attempt to put it into some kind of policy or strategy framework instead of stating the obvious: the president is advancing further into dementia.
"There's a chance we can survive this" Depending on the meaning of "we", we will definitely survive it. That is, we will if "we" means a Trump dictatorship won't last forever. Because no dictatorship does. (None has.) If "we" means everyone, then we won't survive it, because many have died already. Or rather, been murdered by the Trump junta. Why does this matter? It matters because language matters. And I can't say I'm sure what Mark means when he says, "we." It's a lot like when you hear environmentalists say "Save the planet." The planet doesn't need saving. It will still be here, millions of years after Homo sapiens goes extinct. What needs saving is ourselves. And our living, fellow passengers on Earth.

There comes a point when a people have to stop waiting for someone else to become the force of accountability on their behalf.

I meant "we" to mean Americans who believe in democracy and have not yet been murdered or terrorized by the regime.
