We're experiencing an attempted authoritarian take over and the real possibility of the fall of a 250 year old democracy. Reporters and journalists have the unprecedented opportunity to cover the most groundbreaking and momentous events of our lifetime, maybe anyone's lifetime. And corp media lackeys obediently whiff. Whatever these people chose to believe or to call themselves, they are not journalists.

I've figured out how to get to Seattle's protest by bus.. It's a bit arduous, but after this weekend, I'll do arduous. I have the schedules and my ORCA card set to go.

YES! See you out on the streets on Saturday.

We have no option but to engage in nonviolent, mass civil protests on an ongoing basis until this regime falls. Failure to participate would be complicity.

By the way, I turn 77 on Saturday (it is a source of unending chagrin to me that Trump and I share the day). But I can think of no better way to spend my birthday than by joining in with millions of others in protesting against fascism.

He hasn’t done as much as even me & I’m his age so if I don’t qualify for a disgusting parade, then the lying felon doesn’t either. He should be in prison for all of his crimes.

I will be there. Again. I’m 72. I thought my marching days could be handed to a younger crowd. But this is too important. So I will march again. We must show this boil on our buttocks that we will NOT succumb. We will NOT surrender.

Where I live the over 60s are the backbone of every rally and protest. Partly that has to do with the local demographics, but too many of those younger have grown up jaded and thinking "nothing can be done." Having come of political age in 1968, the year I turned 17, I'm sometimes shocked by the resignation I see around me, but at the same time I get it: getting involved and standing up doesn't come naturally to many people. It takes practice!

Now if only the local rally organizers would get more singing into the mix. My guitar teacher and I are working on it. <g>

I live in a relatively “young” city. Big college town. So we have lots of youngsters. But you are correct that the over 60s make up a large portion. Perhaps because we have lived through stages where getting out and being heard actually made a difference. Vietnam, Roe (😢), civil rights, Watergate etc. But this is different. This time our very democracy is on the line. We oldies can’t afford to sit this one out.

.June 14: It’s the 224th anniversary of the death of traitor Benedict Arnold. And it’s Trump’s 79th birthday. Quite a significant date. A beautiful day to protest. Don't attend the parade. You can pick up the highlights later in the evening. I'm sure Fox entertainment will be giving it the full coverage. Set up some TACO stands . Let the silent , neutered, GOP members know you are on to them. God Speed.

Making the person the point and not the issues seems unproductive. It's also irrational. You don't attack the arguer. You attack the argument.

NPR’s Kelly McBride misses an important point and a critical opportunity to educate the public, as is the task of the media. If coverage is given to the ‘paltry’ 3 million who turned out to protest, perhaps more people who listen to NPR will be inclined to stand up for our democracy. The coverage need not be partisan or politicized, but surely the listeners deserve to hear (or see) what’s happening.

I'd note that even if "only 3 million people" participated, that still easily puts the previous weekends of anti-Trump protests in the top 5 largest protests in US history.

WE HAVE AN URGENT NEED FOR VOLUNTEERS IN ALL major urban centers in the USA!

MISSION: make riot police laugh! Much more difficult to shoot someone who is making you laugh! Clowns dodging rubber bullets and flashbangs is much better TV than riot police shooting journalists!

Uhauls full of clowns mocking Patriot Front with drums and fifes are urgently needed.

If you are asking “why clowns"?

"Come On Aussie Come On": The sooner Australia breaks off all relations with trumps U.S.A. the better. Never has there been such feeling against the usa as there is now. Isn't there anybody left in the u.s capable, and willing enough, to shoot the lunatic in the Shite House? Don't the Democrats have any real leaders left? How the hell is this debacle allowed to continue? Just shoot the bastard, nothing could be worse than the present fiasco which will only get worse if there is no real action against him, nothing could be worse than what you have now..
