I have no plans on watching anything on any tv channel this week. I have 4 newly released books from the library, I’m listening to music, practicing yoga, and I visited a dear old friend yesterday. Oh, but I did watch Grantchester on PBS last night.

This has been a difficult weekend for all...a difficult several months with #45 and his radical right fake GOP members projecting --- they are to blame for the anger in our country- they encourage it and hatred. I've had enough and will take time off...I'm politically active in our community and know the battle is before us- decency, integrity, and hard work ... I'm with Joe and Kamala...they don't need to prove they are capable of running the country...they have been for years and years...and they have great people working with them...the effort to tear this presidency down is a set-up and it's vicious. #Project2025 is NOT what Americans want. #45 is NOT to become a dictator and StrongMan- not on our watch. Democracy, our Constitution, and Justice are on the line...As a woman, I fought for the right to choose...50 years later, I'm doing it again. Corrupted SCOTUS is the enemy except for the three women---

You are so on target with all that you say. I can only hope there are enough of us voting for Biden/Harris to wreak havoc on the the Republican house, the senate and all other republicans running for office especially trump/mr nobody.

Democracy dies when the main focus of media outlets is to fight for larger slices of the advertising pie rather than bothering with anything as tiresome as the truth.

Has any corporate slogan suffered a more ignoble fate that WaPo's "Democracy Dies in Darkness"? After lonely 7 years of existence it has been practically abandoned by its creators, and practically all other mainstream media.

It's excruciating to watch TV anchors give their jolly, breathless promos for the Milwaukee hate fest. Utterly clueless bobbleheads. The media is our enemy!

Some members of the media behave like our enemy. Others, like the ProPublica reporters who exposed Supreme Court corruption, are supporting our democracy.

It is hard to fact check in real time when every other sentence is a lie or false.

I will only be able to tolerate brief clips of this each day, mostly to see what kind of propaganda is being spun. I am concerned about how the protests outside will be handled, especially if there’s violence. Otherwise, I don’t trust the remaining news organizations to cover protests at all - but as you say, Mark, maybe that assumption is wrong and they will make clear that a whole coalition of groups oppose the RNC platform. We’ll see 😉

Mark, do you have any recommendations on unbiased news sources we can view/read to get actual facts as opposed to “alternate facts” as Kellyanne Conway put it.

ProPublica and "Democracy Now" are fine sources. Some outlets that are disappointing (such as CNN, NYT and WaPo) have some solid reporters.

I won’t be watching because I destroyed my TV fifty years ago and have never regretted it.

I feel like a conspiracy theorist, but I believe the shooting at the Trump rally was planned, his ear untouched by a bullet. Justice Thomas, over Federal judges in some states, like Florida, helped Cannon end her dilemma. This, after weeks badgering Biden. And, look here--the Republican convention.

Two writers whose opinions and observations I appreciate are reporting from the convention, Amanda Marcotte (Salon) and Joe Perticone (The Bulwark). Otherwise, I expect a festival of lying and delusional bullshit. I haven't been watching any news since the "debate". During a commercial during the All-Star game, I turned over to MSNBC. Naively, I was surprised that they were covering the RNC. Because, of course...🤑🙄

Of course they will. Why should this week be any different??!

I never watch any political or so called "news" programming anywhere. I trust the media are warming up their copy and paste fingers to see who can be first to flood the zone with Trump/Rethuglican hagiography.
