Thank you for singling out The Guardian for praise.

It is worth repeating, as you had mentioned, that The Guardian is wholly owned and operated by The Scott Trust, which was established to ensure the Guardian's financial and editorial independence in perpetuity. Unlike our major newspapers here, The Guardian does not depend on the whims of billionaire owners, or of corporations that purchase advertising in its pages.

Those of us who read The Guardian online (https://www.theguardian.com/us) know that it does not exist behind a paywall unlike The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, etc. The Guardian does not need to do so. However, we can all show our support for the invaluable work that The Guardian does by making contributions to the paper, regardless of how small those contributions might be.

I know this is an opinion publication, but why do you allow only opinions with which you agree? I would appreciate someone as erudite as Victor Davis Hanson have an opportunity to respond. That would allow your readers to form reasonable opinions. And as for the media, Bezos and Musk are doing their part to reach out through the media with their conservative views, why are there no deep-pocketed Progressives or just plain Democrats buying media? They had the opportunity to buy the Sun Times or Tribune and they did nothing. And what, besides excoriating Conservatives, are all the actors and performers doing to keep the media honest through their investments?

Thank you very much, both of you. I have appreciated your input before and after the election. I like the focus on courage and truth-telling. 🌷

That's great, thank you!! Much more inspiring and productive, I think. The more we pay attention to something, the more it happens.

I couldn't find Media Misses or On Target on YouTube. What platform? If you want an audience we need direct links. We are not all savvy about finding things.

Sadly, the list of reputable news sources could be counted on one hand.. There are 100 Alex Jones to every New Republic. I would add Keith Olberman as a fighter for the truth, although he is not an investigative journalist. Voices like Olberman are much need but sorely lacking on the left compared to the billionaire funded right.

.... but really, the news shouldn't be left or right, right? Just facts. Right?

Yes, that's the goal, but the reality is different. The only media offering fact based reporting slants to the left. It's not productive to sanewash and whitewash trump or the right wing media. Is there one right wing, maga outlet that provides pro democracy, anti authoritarian, pro rule of law or factual content that does not rely on fear, anger, hatred, or racism? People are often attracted to those emotional responses, and damn the facts. The right knows this and uses it to its own advantage. The left is more fact based and that doesn't provide the emotional triggers that fuel the right's cultist subservience to a rapist, criminal, con man.

My brother is a trumper and I told him that he is 4x more likely to get murdered in Jacksonville FL than NYC, and he said he didn't 'believe' that was the case. I told him, no matter what you believe that is a fact. The right makes them believe the lies. And as the saying goes, a lie can travel halway around the world before the truth puts on its shoes.
