What can Democrats do to shame news media into being more responsible? Republicans spent decades working on mainstream media and building right-wing media. Surely Democrats can pull reporting back toward truth-telling if they pursued a strategy of their own. What would it be?

Media just eagerly jumps in with both feet IMO. And they know all of this stuff is heinous BS...they have to know they are assisting a bunch of greedy psychopaths in wrecking this country. I guess they all sold their souls.

You know what story I'd like to see? I'd like to see some honest discussion about white Christian nationalist philosophy driving republican/conservative politics. And I'm not talking about quiet conversations amongst the aware left, because we already understand this. I'm talking about a full blown national debate about the racism and Christian primacy that underpins both the ideology AND popularity of the conservative Right political movement. I'd really like to see that. Because until there is widespread understanding and acknowledgement of this fact we're boxing against shadows, and are never going to land a punch.

For me it's not about the story about Haitians eating cats and dogs. It is that politicians pushing that ridiculous, racist lie are still elected. That it is not disqualifying for 70 million people to see Trump say that and still vote for him. Or have him mimic a disabled person or call women reporters "piggy" and that is not disqualifying. It's not solely the garbage media, it's that there are enough people who are OK with it.

It’s like the whole AI “it will destroy us” sham going on now.
