What they defame as the "Deep State" is the parts of our government that allow it to be robust, resilient, and resistant to shocks. They plan to administer some heinous shocks which will help them to identify the responsive areas and make them easier to attack.
This is only going to get worse. How we fight the racist, xenophobic lies is a monumental task. Our press is already a weak outlet for upholding democracy.

fox news and the rest of the legacy, corporate media can no longer be trusted. I ended my WaPo and NYT subscriptions because of their grotesque sanwashing of trump and their continual Biden bashing. No longer will these eyes see the likes of CNN, ABC, CBS or other network 'news' outlets. They have become nothing more than trump click bait sites that see profit in the orange felon, damn democracy, the rule of law and what remains of the Constitution. If trump wanted to re institute slavery, corporate media would weigh the pros and cons to be fair to trump. Corporate media is the problem, not the solution. They will obey in advance to advance their profits. Substack, ProPublica and other independent, truth seeking media outlets are the only hope for American democracy. I hope they are up to the task...
The American people desperately need people in these positions — Director of National Intelligence and Director of the FBI — who will not only investigate and seek the truth on issues like this, but who will stand up to their boss and tell him the truth…and tell US the truth even when The Boss wants to turn it into a lie to stoke his base and push his agenda.
Think Tulsi Gabbard and Ka$h Patel have it in them?
MAGAs will never believe that anyone with a non-European-sounding name is "American" even if they and their parents and their parents' parents were all born and raised in the U.S., and that goes double (triple? quadruple?) if they don't look white.
