Certainly NOT "nimble" or "steely." She was a rigid bully. I guess you might call her "fierce" if you twisted the meaning of the word to spin a negative — badgering, insulting, demeaning — as a positive. But The NY Times always imagines new personalities and characters for Trump women. They did it for Ivanka, did it for Hope Hicks. I can hardly wait to read their 3,000 word paean to Natalie Harp!

It appears that Trump and his Fascist Republican enablers will send partisan “election-monitors” to each precinct on Election Day. Will these “monitors” wear uniforms? Will they wear masks? Will they carry guns? Does anyone believe their purpose is to ensure a free and fair election?

Young voters, women voters, and voters with brown or black skin terrify Trump and his Fascist Republican enablers. The intent to suppress their vote, (and the votes of others who oppose Republican Fascism,) remains one of Trump’s highest priorities.

In a desperate attempt to keep women, students and People of Color from voting, Texas Republicans closed 92 precincts previously serving these voters and tossed more than a million Texans off the registered voter roles.

The propaganda spewed by Trump and his racist enablers cannot coverup the fact that Republicans are using physical violence in a desperate attempt to stay in power. Federal agents are dispatched by Donald Trump, Todd Blanche, Markwayne Mullins, Kash Patel, Tom Homan, and Stephen Miller to crush Americans who oppose the regime’s criminal acts.

Two of every three Americans recognize that Trump is a liar, thief, grifter, fraudster, racist, sexual predator, and war criminal. This supermajority will win the midterm elections by blocking passage of Trump’s viciously racist, (and purposely misogynistic), “Save America Act”—a legislative obscenity specifically drafted to disenfranchise women and People of Color.

The American people will not rest until Trump—and his Neo-Nazi enablers—are removed from office, prosecuted for treason, convicted, and punished as dictated by the Constitution.

I’m so grateful you addressed these distressing issues.

I fact I would be thrilled if you published this every day.

Most everyone I know is unaware of these interlaced ominous weavings of propaganda War Lords manipulations through seizing control of media and communications systems and

THEN

the *^%# recent merger was additional rotten news!

I have a Trump supporter relative who after my supplying him with truthful refutations of lies - instead of changing his stance - just says he won’t watch news because he doesn’t know what’s true.

NOW we have many media fortresses captured by the wealthy void of Ethics Comm War Lords AND the FCC under miscreant Branden Carr stifling the watch dog!

Talk about the Fog of War?

It’s the blotting out of Truth!

I’m so grateful for your independence and honesty!

Most insidious, for me anyway, is the pernicious local TV news chains Nexstar and especially Sinclair. Everyone knows Fox is propaganda. You really don't expect your local TV station, reporting on city hall, crime, fires, weather, etc., to be pushing an agenda.

The reason for the abject cowardice of our mainstream press in confronting anything like the truth is baked into our system of unfettered capitalism which encourages corporate ownership of the media.

If any of this is to change, we will need a fundamental reset of our system of "doing business."

Heard some stuff about NBC the other day. Hope they won't be going up for sale, too.

Mark, the step I'd add to your list: don't just hit "like" or share. Take these ideas outside the Substack and Bluesky bubbles. If oligarchs are buying the big outlets, the counter is the small ones they can't buy: independent Substack writers, small-town Iowa papers, the Western Iowa Foundation for Journalism, and community radio like KHOI (the latter two, for me).

Submit columns and letters. Give free Substack subscriptions. Pick up the print papers at your library. And take these conversations to Reddit and Instagram, where too often the algorithms, not the facts, decide who's heard. I have used subreddits to inform and civilly debate issues of the day in Iowa. Make plainspoken truth travel farther than any algorithm will carry it.
